Form Watch: Arsenal's Four-From-Four Sets the Pace as Fulham and Coventry Slide

Four games into the new Premier League season, the table has already split into sharp form bands. According to the Premier League table, nobody is travelling better than Arsenal — and few are struggling quite like Fulham and Coventry City.

The pacesetters

Arsenal are the only side with a perfect record: four wins from four, eight goals scored and a single goal conceded, good for 12 points at the top. The league's scoring charts show B. Saka and M. Odegaard with two goals each underpinning that start.

Manchester City sit second with nine points from just three matches — a game fewer than the leaders — with E. Haaland and R. Cherki combining for five of their seven goals, per the same charts.

Hull lead the chasers

Hull City AFC sit third in the early running: unbeaten, with two wins and two draws banked for eight points, five goals scored and only two conceded — a defensive record bettered only by Arsenal, according to the table.

Chelsea sit fourth on the back of two straight wins. No side in the division has scored more than their 10 goals, though nine conceded is a costly trade-off. The unbeaten list runs deeper still — Brentford, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle United and Leeds United have yet to lose, making eight unbeaten sides in total. A. Isak's three goals have been the standout in Liverpool's draw-heavy start, with two straight draws on the board, while Brentford and Everton have made draws their currency with three apiece.

B. Fernandes also has three goals to share the lead in the scoring charts with Haaland and Isak, even as Manchester United sit 13th on one win, one draw and one defeat.

The slide

At the other end, Fulham have lost three on the bounce and hold a single point from four matches, with J. King providing two of their four league goals as the lone bright spot.

Coventry City are pointless after three straight defeats, scoring none and conceding five. Aston Villa have one point and one goal from four games, while Tottenham Hotspur, on two points, have not scored at all — four matches without a goal, according to the table — and carry two straight defeats. Crystal Palace have shipped 11, the worst defensive return in the division, T. Mitchell's two goals scant consolation. Ipswich Town's start has been all-or-nothing: two wins, two defeats, seven scored and ten against.

Early snapshot

With every side still only three or four matches in, these streaks are a snapshot rather than a verdict. Runs bend quickly at this stage — a single result can flip a streak either way — and Arsenal's mean defence, Hull's lofty perch and Coventry's blank scoresheet are the extremes worth tracking.
