Odds round-up: Premier League's bottom three all favourites this weekend

FanTribe's latest odds data for the round beginning 12 September throws up a curiosity the Premier League table would never suggest: the clubs occupying 18th, 19th and 20th place — Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur — are all favourites with the market this weekend.

Spurs priced above Everton

Tottenham, bottom of the Premier League table with no points, no goals scored and five conceded, are 2.05 to beat Everton in Saturday's 16:30 kick-off. Everton sit fourth with four points from two matches, yet they are 3.85 outsiders, with the draw at 3.50. The market, it seems, is backing pedigree over early form.

The Palace paradox

Crystal Palace, 19th in the table after two defeats, are 1.91 favourites at home to Ipswich Town. Ipswich, ninth with a win from their only game, are priced at 4.10, with the draw at 3.75.

Villa complete the set

Aston Villa, 18th after a defeat in which they conceded four and scored none, are 2.02 to see off Nottingham Forest, who are 12th with a single point. Forest are 3.90, with the draw at 3.60.

City fancied in the derby

Sunday's headline fixture at Old Trafford sees Manchester City, top of the table with six points from two, priced at 2.12 to win. Manchester United, 16th after losing their opener, are 3.10, with the draw at 4.20.

Tight calls and short prices

• AFC Bournemouth v Brentford (Saturday, 14:00): the tightest market of the round at 2.68 v 2.62, with Brentford — seventh with three points — marginally shorter than their 13th-placed hosts.
• Leeds United v Newcastle United (Monday, 19:00): Newcastle are third in the table, but Leeds, 10th, are slightly shorter at 2.58 to 2.76.
• Liverpool v Fulham (Saturday, 14:00): the shortest price of the gameweek. Liverpool are 1.48 despite drawing both matches so far, according to the table. Fulham are 6.80.
• Sunderland v Arsenal (Saturday, 19:00): Arsenal are 1.52 at 15th-placed Sunderland, with the home side at 7.80.
