Form Watch: Arsenal and Manchester City set the pace as Coventry go pointless

The Premier League's form map is taking shape four matches into the campaign. According to the table, two sides are flawless, eight remain unbeaten and five are still searching for a first win.

Perfect at the top

Arsenal and Manchester City are the two flawless sides. Both have taken 12 points from 12, scored eight goals and dropped nothing, separated only by goal difference — Arsenal's +7 to City's +6. The Gunners have outscored opponents 8-1 across their four matches, City 8-2.

Arsenal also own the division's meanest defence, and the league's scoring charts show B. Saka and M. Odegaard with two goals apiece at the other end. City's charge has been spearheaded by E. Haaland, whose three goals have him level at the top of the charts, with R. Cherki adding two more.

The unbeaten chasers

Hull City are the eye-catching name in third. Unbeaten on eight points, they have turned two draws into momentum with back-to-back wins, scoring five and conceding two.

Brighton & Hove Albion, fourth, boast the league's most prolific attack with 13 goals, and per the standings their +8 goal difference is the best in the division — better even than the top two. Chelsea complete the top five on the back of successive wins, though ten goals scored have come alongside nine conceded.

Newcastle United and Leeds United are also unbeaten, on five points apiece, though both have played only three matches — A. Elanga's two goals have helped Newcastle's cause. Brentford and Everton ground out three draws apiece before finding a first win, while A. Isak's three goals have not stopped Liverpool slipping into two straight draws in seventh. Ipswich Town, ninth, have split their results evenly — two wins, two defeats — but conceded ten.

Trouble at the bottom

Coventry City anchor the table after four straight defeats: no goals scored, ten conceded, no points. Fulham, 18th, have lost three on the bounce since an opening draw, with J. King's two goals accounting for half of their tally. Aston Villa, 19th, have managed a single goal and one point, and arrive on the back of two straight defeats, while Tottenham Hotspur, 17th, are winless and goalless — two draws, two defeats and nothing scored.

Crystal Palace's two straight defeats have come with the division's leakiest defensive record, 11 conceded, though T. Mitchell's two goals have offered some bright spots. AFC Bournemouth complete the winless quintet on three points.
