Arsenal and Manchester City Pull Clear as Perfect Starts Shape the Title Race

Four matches into the new campaign, the title race has already narrowed to a familiar pairing. According to the Premier League table, Arsenal and Manchester City are the only sides with perfect records, each sitting on 12 points from four wins out of four. Arsenal hold first place on goal difference, +7 to City's +6, built on eight goals scored and just one conceded.

A single goal between first and second

The margin separating the top two is the narrowest on offer: one goal. Both teams have scored eight times, but where City have conceded twice, Arsenal have let in only one — the best defensive record in the division, according to the standings. Only the goal-difference column separates them, a margin slim enough that one emphatic result could flip the order.

The early scoring charts point the same way. Haaland has three goals for City, with Cherki adding two — five of their eight — while Saka and Odegaard have two apiece for Arsenal, half of their own tally.

Hull lead the chase

Hull City AFC are the early outriders in third place. Two wins and two draws from four matches have them on 8 points — four behind the leaders — and a form line of DDWW means they arrive on back-to-back victories. According to the table, only Arsenal have conceded fewer goals than Hull's two.
